Who We Are

Our Commitment to Justice

Daryel Legal Aid Center is a nonprofit legal aid organization based in Mogadishu, Somalia. Founded in 2022, we are dedicated to providing free, high-quality legal services to the most vulnerable members of society.

Our team of dedicated legal professionals works tirelessly to ensure that everyone, regardless of their economic status, has access to equitable legal defense and that their constitutional and human rights are respected.

We believe that justice should not be a privilege for the wealthy but a fundamental right for all members of society. Our work focuses on empowering those who cannot afford legal representation and ensuring their voices are heard in the legal system.

Our Vision

To build a Somali society where everyone — weak or strong, rich or poor — has access to equitable legal defense and where their constitutional and human rights are respected.

We envision a future where justice is accessible to all, where the legal system serves as a tool for empowerment rather than oppression, and where the most vulnerable members of society are protected and uplifted through proper legal representation.

Our Mission

To serve as a legal shield for vulnerable individuals who cannot afford legal counsel and representation. We empower women, children, persons with disabilities, prisoners, and IDPs by ensuring they receive a fair trial and that their dignity and legal rights are protected.

Our mission extends beyond legal representation to include community education, advocacy for systemic change, and building a culture of respect for human rights throughout Somali society.

Our Core Services

Free Legal Counseling & Representation

We provide comprehensive legal counseling and courtroom representation for those who cannot afford legal services. Our team handles a wide range of cases including civil disputes, family law matters, and human rights violations.

Community Legal Awareness & Training

We conduct workshops, seminars, and community outreach programs to educate people about their legal rights and responsibilities. Our training empowers communities to navigate the legal system and advocate for themselves.

Specialized Support for Women & Children

We offer targeted legal assistance for women and children who are often disproportionately affected by legal injustices. This includes cases of domestic violence, child custody, inheritance disputes, and gender-based discrimination.

Peaceful Dispute Resolution & Mediation

We facilitate mediation and alternative dispute resolution to help parties resolve conflicts without lengthy and expensive court proceedings. This approach preserves relationships and reduces the burden on the judicial system.

Prisoner Rights Defense & Jail Visits

We advocate for the rights of prisoners, ensuring humane treatment, access to legal representation, and fair judicial processes. Our team regularly visits detention facilities to monitor conditions and provide legal assistance.

Psychosocial Support for Survivors

We provide psychological and social support services for survivors of trauma, violence, and injustice. Our holistic approach addresses both legal and emotional needs to support complete recovery and rehabilitation.

Land & Property Dispute Mediation

We specialize in resolving complex land and property disputes that are common in post-conflict settings. Our mediators help parties reach fair agreements while considering traditional customs and formal legal frameworks.
